TRESTA - The Renewable Energy Skills Training Academy - is a new training facility which will open in March 2012 within the premises of the west of Scotland’s largest steel fabricator Steel Engineering Ltd who are based in Renfrew, near Glasgow, Scotland. TRESTA’s aim is to train a new generation of personnel in the new skills and technologies required to service the needs of the growing renewable energy and steel trades sectors, both locally and nationally.
Initial funding for TRESTA is being provided by Steel Engineering Ltd and Scottish Enterprise. Both are committed to help building and developing a vibrant and sustainable renewables industry in Scotland which will significantly benefit both the environment and economy. Initial Stakeholders have also been identified and a sustainable model for the long term future of TRESTA is being developed. Partnerships with leading companies and organisations are also being established to provide state of the art tools, equipment and other resources.
As new technologies require new skills, the skills gap required to form the basis of these new Qualifications have therefore been identified, outlined and are currently being developed. All TRESTA Qualifications will be recognised by the SCQF (Scottish Credit Qualification Framework) and endorsed by SEMTA (Sector Skills Body). A Recruitment Agency has also been engaged to place TRESTA Graduates in jobs within the renewable energy and steel trades sectors.
Recruitment for jobs within TRESTA is already underway and you can view a list of current vacancies here.
